Material:

100 gram Kartopu Baby Natural (200 m/100gram/49% cotton 51% acrylic)
Yarn weight: 4 Worsted & Aran
3.50 mm Knitting Circular Needles 40 cm length

Gauge:

1 complete maple stitch gives 1 inch x 1 inch (as shown in red box).
In ribbing stitch (k2,p2,k2)- rows x sts – 1 inch x 1 inch – 8 rows x 6 sts with 3.50 mm needles.

Note:

1. The instruction below is for newborn size to 1 month.
2. If you would like to readjust the size for baby 6 months old to 1 year old, you can change the needles size to 1 or 2 size bigger than the suggested above. Or just do your gauge to save time 🙂 .
3. Maple stitch is done on knit sts only. (in our case, we have 2 knit sts, 2 purl sts)
4. Don’t be surprise to see no BO involved in this pattern ok?

Maple stitch:

Round 1 : [k 2nd st tbl, k 1st st from the front loop, drop the 2nd st, p2] x repeat till end
Round 2 – 4 : [K2, P2] repeat till end.

Knitting Abbreviations:

Co – Cast On
K – Knit
P – Purl
St /s- Stitch/s
Tbl – Tru back loop
P2tog – Purl 2 stitches together
K2tog – Knit 2 stitches together

Instructions:

Co 80 sts.
Round 1 – 8 : [K2, P2] x repeat till end.

Round 9 – Round 12: Follow maple stitch pattern above

Repeat this 4 rounds for maple stitch until you get 8 complete maple stitch in 1 column before decreasing (40 rounds as total from cast on)

Round 41: [K2, P2tog, K2, P2] x repeat til end

Round 42: [K2, P1, K2, P2tog] x repeat til end

Round 43: [K2tog, P1] x repeat til end [ 20 sts left on needle]

K2tog for 10 more times [10 sts left on needle]

Leave about 10 cm tail, cut the yarn, using tapestry needle, bring the tail through all the 10 loops. Pull it tight and tie it neatly. Make a pom pom and attach on the top.

Done! 🙂
